NATIONAL PINEAPPLE UPSIDE DOWN CAKE DAY
National Pineapple Upside Down Cake Day is observed annually on April 20th. This spring time cake has been enjoyed since the early 1900′s.
In 1925 a pineapple recipe contest was held. From the more than 60,000 recipes that were entered, 2,500 were for Pineapple Upside Down Cake. It is apparent that this cake was very popular then and still is today.
To make a Pineapple Upside Down Cake, the bottom of the pan is lined with pineapple rings. A cherry is then placed in the center of each ring followed by a butter and sugar mixture. Cake batter is then poured on top and it is baked. The cake is turned upside down, onto a cake plate, before serving, revealing a delightful and delicious masterpiece.

NATIONAL LOOK ALIKE DAY
National Look Alike Day is observed annually on April 20th. This day was created as a fun day to look like another person. Dress up like them, fix your hair, talk like them, etc. Pick someone you will see today or select a celebrity.
Maybe you already do look like someone? We often hear the words, “you remind me of someone” or “you look just like so and so”. If so, then you are one step ahead of the game.
One of the most famous “look alike’s” is Elvis Presley, ”The King of Rock N Roll”.
Have fun with National Look Alike Day
NATIONAL LOOK ALIKE DAY HISTORY
National Look-Alike Day was created by a feature television reporter, Jack Etzel, in the 80’s. He was in downtown Pittsburgh and hard up for a light feature for the news when the photographer, Rick Minutello said, “This guy coming toward us looks like Humphrey Bogart”. He did, cigarette and all. Jack said, “Let’s talk to him. I’ll ask him who people think he looks like”. They spent a couple of hours asking others that question, or “Who do you think you look like?” (The funniest were those who looked nothing at all like their famous person.)
The next day Etzel got in touch with the Chase Calendar of Events people and proclaimed Look-Alike Day so that they could depend on that same funny story for the next ten years.

They are delicious in soups, stews, salads, casseroles, by themselves or mixed with other vegetables.
