What would be better than a day filled with laughter? Annually celebrated on August 16, it is National Tell a Joke Day and that’s no joke!

Jokes can be of many different forms:

  • Single word or gesture
  • One-liner
  • Question – answer
  • Whole short story

A joke has synonyms which include:

  • Gag
  • Prank
  • Quip
  • Jab
  • Jest

* Jokes have been a part of human culture since at least 1900 BC. *

For National Tell A Joke Day, I have seen this additional information. National Tell a Joke Day (Joe Miller’s Joke Day). Miller was an 18th century English actor that was famous for his one liners (jests). The 16th of August is considered his birthday. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Miller_%28actor%29
