National Day Calendar is a couple of individuals who had an idea to research all the unique National Days and post our findings on one website. After a couple of years, we have completed that project although we are still researching the history of a few of the days. We are humbled by the fact that so many people follow us including many in the media. The site has been a hobby. However, as the site becomes increasingly more popular, it is becoming a job. Our mission is to provide information and entertainment to our followers through the daily articles we post.

You do not have a contact us. 😦 There has been a change in this site this week. I miss the old format. July 14th was the last day before the format has changed. I also find that when I refresh the page it is a day behind. Please fix, I use this site for my job and it is hard to find good ones like this.

Please include “Mimosa Day” to your list of holidays. This annual “holiday” takes place each year on May 16 and celebrates the delightfully refreshing Mimosa cocktail. Thanks!

Hi Jace, Do you have any more information regarding “Mimosa Day” such as the creator or the origin of this day? We will be happy to research this and then possibly add it to our calendar. Thank you and we hope that you have a wonderful day!

Couldn’t find a way to contact you. I greatly appreciate your mention of Bat Appreciation Day! I wanted to let you know that SmileyBat.com initiated the day, which was later picked up and sponsorship by Bat Conservation International and was included in the Chase Calendar of Events (by McGraw-Hill) beginning in 2011. 🙂

Please add these April 12 events for future reference:
1961: “Vostok 1” on April 12th, 1961. Soviet Cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin took his place in history as the first human to leave the bounds of Earth and enter outer space.

1981: STS-1 launched on April 12, 1981, just twenty years to the day after Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin became the first human in space. Astronauts John Young and Robert Crippen launched that morning in Columbia, the first time ever a new spacecraft made its maiden flight with a human crew onboard.
